Comparisons
Have you ever found yourself measuring your worth or success based upon others around you? It is easy to get caught up in comparisons in all areas of our life. We start off looking at our surroundings and seeing what we don’t have, this can lead to the feeling that we are less than or inadequate. If we are going to compare, it is important that we compare to the right standard.

My Story
As a teenager, I found myself feeling less than, I saw the girls in school with their diamonds and gold jewelry and I attributed that to their worth, and popularity. With popularity comes success and approval, at least in the teenage mind. I loved jewelry and would wear shiny/blingy things, (costume jewelry), so that I would appear to fit in. In my mind, though it wasn’t real, it got me closer to the ”in crowd” but the truth was, I felt less than and an outcast.
Now many years later, I still see the same behaviors in society. What you need to know young woman is that God made you unique, and nobody can be who you are, or fulfill YOUR calling. Stop trying to measure your worth by comparing to others. God designed you to be YOU!
Standards
Each of us have been given a measure, a measure of faith, gifts, talents or abilities are a few examples. But, that measure will never be enough in our eyes if we continue to compare against the wrong standard. What is the wrong standard you ask? It is comparing what we have been given to others, and what they have.
The True Standard
The true standard or measure of your worth comes from God and He says you are more than enough. There are more scriptures we could place here, but I like this one for now.
2 Corinthians 3:5 says “Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God.”
Final thoughts
So sisters, I leave you with a final question, how much happier and content would we be if we stop “measuring” ourselves with the standards the world provides?
Remember, all of life is ministry!
God Bless and have a great day.
