The Bride’s Business
When most people hear the term distribution, we think of the movement of goods or services from supplier to consumer. Today I want us to think of it from a Kingdom distribution standpoint.
When Jesus was a mere boy of twelve years old, His parents had gone to Jerusalem for the Passover. As they were leaving, they realized their son Jesus was not with them. They found Him at the temple listening to the teachers and asking questions. When they questioned Him regarding why He had stayed behind, we find in Luke 2:49 what He said to them, “Why did you seek me? Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?
If Jesus himself referred to His ministry as His Fathers business, then we have a question to answer. What exactly is the “Fathers business”? Jesus made multiple “why I came” statements that might help us understand.
The Father’s Business
Sometimes it is hard for us to think of our Church, or it’s ministry as a business, but that is exactly what we are going to do today, distribution in particular. As I mentioned above, we generally think of distribution as the movement of goods, or services from point of supply to the consumer, or point of need. Let’s keep that definition in mind as we talk about Kingdom distribution.
Lets take a few minutes to look at the life and ministry of Jesus to gain an understanding of what Kingdom distribution looks like. I think it is important to know that God does not need us to accomplish His will, but He want’s us involved, that is a huge mystery to me. But what a blessing to know the God of the universe has chosen me to be a distributor in His kingdom.
Conclusion
We too must be about the Father’s business. What is your part in the distribution network? How will it change your perspective if you see people as ones missing something? Maybe you have exactly what they are missing. It could be they just need a little grace or a little goodness?
Think about the last time you were in need, and just at the right time it, (whatever it was), showed up. Maybe it was hug, or bright smile. Maybe it was a bag of groceries or even an encouraging word. That was no coincidence, that was God’s distribution network.
Remember all of life is ministry.
